Travel Support Opportunities for International Participants

To encourage broad international participation and strengthen global academic exchange at RSC FIRST 2026: AI in Chemistry, the Conference is pleased to offer travel support opportunities for international participants.

The programme is intended to support a limited number of participants whose attendance is expected to make a meaningful contribution to the scientific programme and to the diversity of perspectives represented at the conference. Support will take the form of a partial or full waiver of either the registration fee or local accommodation.

Eligibility and Assessment

Applications will be assessed competitively, taking into account the following considerations:

1 Scientific Merit and Contribution to the Conference

Priority will normally be given to applicants who submit abstracts for oral or poster presentations. Applications will be assessed on the quality, originality, relevance and potential impact of the submitted work, as determined through the conference’s standard abstract review process. Acceptance of an abstract does not automatically guarantee financial support.

2 Demonstrated Need and Exceptional Circumstances

The Conference recognises that some participants may face significant financial barriers to attending an international scientific meeting. Applicants should provide a brief and specific explanation of the circumstances affecting their ability to attend. Each application will be considered individually and confidentially.

* In exceptional cases, applications from individuals who are not presenting work may also be considered where there is a clear justification of need and where their participation would make a meaningful contribution to the conference.

Selection Principles

As funding is limited, support will be awarded on a competitive basis. In reaching its decisions, the Conference will consider:

  • the scientific quality and relevance of the proposed contribution;
  • the applicant’s expected contribution to the conference programme and scholarly discussions;
  • the nature and extent of the applicant’s demonstrated need;
  • the objective of promoting broad international participation and representation; and
  • the amount of funding available.

The scientific review of submitted abstracts will be conducted independently of the assessment of financial need.

Application Process

Applicants wishing to be considered for support should follow these steps:

1

Submit an abstract through the standard submission process, where applicable.

2

Complete the Travel Support Opportunities Application Form (including a brief statement explaining the need for assistance).

3

Upload the completed application form (either a scanned copy or an electronically signed document) during the registration process.

Application upload guide preview

Applicants should provide only information that is relevant to the assessment of their application. All personal information submitted will be handled in accordance with the conference’s applicable privacy and data-protection policies.

Important Information

This programme has been established specifically to address the additional costs and practical barriers associated with international participation and to facilitate wider global engagement in the conference.

Funding is limited, and the number and value of awards will depend on the resources available. The Conference may offer a level or form of support different from that requested by an applicant. All funding decisions will be made by the Conference following full consideration of applications. Decisions will be final and will not affect the outcome of the scientific abstract review process.

The conference is committed to providing a fair, respectful and inclusive experience for all participants. By enabling wider international participation, this programme is intended to enrich the scientific discussions and engagement across the community.
